How to add or adjust Catalogs to Search:
Catalogs
to Search groups are lists of targets searched when patrons enter
searches. The more sites in Catalogs to
Search groups for patrons, the larger the number of targets from which they may
receive results, and therefore the more collections your patrons may benefit
from. It is suggested that one Catalogs
to Search group include all MA Virtual Catalog targets that are lending and
borrowing as the default group.
Non-lending members may be searched.
As
new members are added or other members withdraw temporarily these lists need to
be adjusted. Directions on how to add or
remove sites to Catalogs to Search groups are below.
1. Login as a manager
level login, at http://ursa.lib.umb.edu/~epixtech/staff_login_content.html
or www.massvc.org lower right.
This
brings you to the Staff Menu.
2.
Click: Administrative functions

Note:
The top catalogs to search group in the Catalog Selections list,
currently BRIDGEW, seems to be not easily highlighted at times, so adding
another target such as CLAMS temporarily and then deleting it afterward may
alleviate this problem. Please call the helpdesk at 617-287-5926 or email
vc.helpdesk@umb.edu if any questions
come up.
6.
Now the new target should appear in the right hand list, at the bottom of the
list. Scroll down if needed. Click the “modify catalogs to search” button
at the bottom of the screen if the new target appears. If not try step 5 again or call the helpdesk
at 617-287-5926.
6a.
To remove a target, highlight it in the list to the right, Catalog Selections,
and hit the “delete” key on your keyboard.
It should disappear from the list.
Now click “modify catalogs to search” at bottom (see screenshot below).
Note: “Clear Selections” clears _all_ selections,
so do not use it to remove just one target.

(“Academic & Public” below) or in the pull down for staff go to the
